Mr. Ron Boyer

Environmental and Interpretive Specialist, Elk Ridge NatureWorks, LLC

Ron Boyer is a Marylander through and through, having lived in the Eastern Shore, central Piedmont, and now on the Allegheny Plateau. Since age five, he has been involved in education, either as a student or teacher. He received a BS in zoology and a MS in education, supervision and curriculum from the University of Maryland. After retiring from the public sector, he and his wife, Liz McDowell, started their own business, Elkridge NatureWorks. He is still in the business of education, but with a slightly different slant. He shares unique nature experiences with individuals, groups, and organizations in and around Savage River State Forest in western Maryland. Whether on foot, bike, ski, or snowshoe, he interprets the natural wonders of the Allegheny Plateau in the central Appalachians.
