Dr. Gregory Gancarz

After growing up in western Massachusetts and attending NYSC in 1989, Greg Gancarz went on to spend nine years in Boston earning a S.B. in materials science and engineering from MIT followed by a Ph.D. in cognitive and neural systems from Boston University. He then married Yuka Inagaki and moved to San Diego to begin work as a scientist at HNC Software, a company specializing in applications of artificial neural networks (recently merged with Fair Isaac). As a part of his work, Greg built statistical models currently in production at credit card issuers around the globe, and has had the opportunity to travel to visit many clients in the asia-pacific and latin america regions. Most recently, he has become a homeowner, and celebrated the first birthday of his son Kent. Greg is an avid sailor, and also enjoys gardening, surfing, tennis, and competing in Battlebot competitions.
