Dr. Andrew Liu

Research Scientist, Man Vehicle Laboratory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Andy Liu was raised in Oak Ridge, TN and attended NYSC as the Tennessee delegate in 1982. He left the Smoky Mountains for Baltimore, MD where he studied Biomedical Engineering and received his B.S. H e changed coasts to attend the University of California, Berkeley, where he received his Ph.D. after working on interfaces for space teleroblasts. He headed back across the country to Cambridge, MA, where he helped start a basic research lab for Nissan Motor Company. He became interested in modelling drivers and driver behavior in the hopes of making smarter cars. He took off for his current job at MIT in 1999 to be a research scientist studying perception and cognition in real, virtual, and microgravity environments.
