Ashley is a sophomore majoring in biochemistry with a minor in art and creative writing at Hope College in Michigan. Recently, she was selected as the recipient for the Dykenhuizen Science Scholarship for her outstanding achievements in science. During her freshman year, she worked as research assistant in the lab of Dr. James Gentile studying the antimutagenic effects of certain vegetables. Ashley served as a representative on the Hope College Student Congress and as co-editor of a campus literary magazine. She was runner-up in the 2003 Miss Muskegon Scholarship pageant and enjoys singing, photography, guitar, and coaching high school soccer. Ashley was a Michigan delegate to the NYSC® in 2003, and is returning for her first year on staff. | |
